The Philadelphia 76ers have not shown much promise since their season opener against the Miami Heat back in October with a(n) 114-110 upset. The Sixers would go on to beat Washington and Chicago in the next few days, starting their immediate season undefeated.
Philadelphia fans were excited to watch, and optimistic of a team who showed promise, but it wasn’t long before the Sixers strong start began to weaken as wins became few and far between. Currently they tie the longest losing streak in franchise history at 20, and will possibly surpass the NBA’s longest losing streak (set by the Cleveland Cavaliers at 26 games in 2010-11) before the season comes to a close.
It is clear that the 2013-14 season is a lost cause for Philadelphia, and once again a rebuilding year. Consistent progress and growth in rookie guard Michael-Carter Williams and dependable six year veteran forward Thaddeus Young show hope for the Sixers. However, the Sixers will need to look for a reliable scorer and play maker with their possible two lottery picks, and recently acquired second round draft pick, which was included during the trading of Lavoy Allen and Evan Turner to Indiana on February 20, 2014.
Tonight, the Philadelphia 76ers will battle the Indiana Pacers for the second time while outfitting former 76ers’ Lavoy Allen and Evan Turner. Turner was limited to two points during the Pacers last meeting on Friday March 14, 2014 against Philadelphia.
D-league’s James Nunally (forward) is hopeful to make his debut as a Sixer after signing a 10-day contract earlier today. “It’s a great opportunity to come to a team that has some open spots to fill. It’ll give me a chance to play right away.” Nunally says during an interview with sixers.com. Darius Johnson-Odom (guard) also anticipating to possibly hit the floor for a second time during his 10-day contact.
