Last night, Marian Gaborik joined Mike Gartner and Jean Ratelle as the only players in Rangers history to record at least two 40-goal seasons when he scored a classic Gabby goal by out-skating his opponent to the puck and burying a breakaway using his lightning quick release…
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkvJVMzBev0&w=450&h=315]Here’s Henrik Lundqvist on Gaborik reaching 40 goals (via ESPN NY)…
“It’s impressive. He’s been outstanding all year. To score 40 goals, you can’t have many weeks when you slow down. He’s been consistent all year and I’m happy for him. He works hard for it.”
John Tortorella added…
“It’s how he’s played this year. He’s been consistent all year long. And good for him. It’s been a great year for him.”
…it has been an absolute pleasure watching Gaborik dominate this season. We always complain about high priced free agents fizzling out with the Rangers but not here. Two 40-goal campaigns in his first three years on Broadway is pretty damn impressive.
…now let’s hope he can continue to light it up in the playoffs.
