On the verge of spiraling into full-on failure, the Brooklyn Nets have lost their last four games and are looking to end the skid tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks, who are led by former Net player and coach (for the 2013-14 season) Jason Kidd.

This summer, the Nets relieved Kidd of his duties as head coach after just one season when he attempted, and failed, at supplanting general manager Billy King in a struggle for power. Kidd, a future Hall-of-Famer at point guard, overplayed his hand and that led to his “trade” to Milwaukee in exchange for a pair of second-round draft picks.

It was a stunning turn of events that led the Nets to eventually hire Lionel Hollins. So far, the new season has been pretty good for Kidd and his young, talented Bucks team and not as good for Hollins’ Nets.

The Bucks are above .500 at 6-5 and have mainly been led by point guard Brandon Knight, who with a 17.9 point per game average, is playing the best basketball of his career. The supporting cast, including No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 draft, Jabari Parker, has been really strong as well. Milwaukee is coming off a home win over the lifeless Knicks last night.

As you all probably know, the Nets are coming off a loss to the injured Miami Heat–without Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng and Josh McRoberts–on Monday night at Barclays. Add three consecutive losses prior to that and you get a 4-6 Nets team that is sinking further and further below the .500-mark with every loss.

Probable Lineups

MIL- Brandon Knight (PG), Giannis Antetokounmpo (SG), Jabari Parker (SF), Khris Middleton (PF), Zaza Pachulia (C)

BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Joe Johnson (SG), Bojan Bogdanovic (SF), Kevin Garnett (PF), Brook Lopez (C)

Final Thoughts

It’s a homecoming of sorts for Jason Kidd, a strange one to be sure though. Still, the Bucks are on their second game in as many nights and are still a raw team with many flaws so the Nets should, and really need to, win. But, as we’ve seen this whole season with Brooklyn, winnable games are often not that at all.
