The Nets have now lost their last five games, most recently in triple overtime fashion against Jason Kidd and the Bucks. The ship is sinking for Brooklyn, but there is hope, as the Nets take on the snakebitten Oklahoma City Thunder tonight on the road.
The Thunder, without Kevin Durant (foot) and Russell Westbrook (hand), got smoked on November 3rd by the Nets at the Barclays Center and are looking to salvage the season series. Interestingly, even though OKC is also on a losing streak–a two-game one to be exact–Scott Brooks’ team is favored by 1.5 points. Brooklyn should be offended.
Probable Lineups
BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Joe Johnson (SG), Bojan Bogdanovic (SF), Kevin Garnett (PF), Brook Lopez (C)
OKC- Reggie Jackson (PG), Jeremy Lamb (SG), Lance Thomas (SF), Serge Ibaka (PF), Steven Adams (C)
Final Thoughts
On paper, the Nets should thoroughly destroy the Thunder due to the latter’s severe injury troubles. But, in the NBA, you play the games because what should happen doesn’t necessarily mean it does happen. Should the Nets have beaten the Wade-less, Deng-less Heat? Probably, but they didn’t. Should they have beaten the Bucks? Presumably so.
Regardless, a sixth consecutive loss would push the Nets even further under .500 and could possibly put Lionel Hollins on the hot seat. A win would be nice. The Oakland Raiders can do it, so can the Nets.
