By the time this game was over, other games around baseball rendered it completely meaningless; the Reds beat the Astros on a Jay Bruce walkoff homer and eliminated the Cardinals from the NL Central race while the Mariners beat the Rangers and clinched the worst record in baseball for the Pirates. And yet I still like seeing Andrew McCutchen on base three times and a John Bowker clearing off the bases with a clutch late double to put the game out of reach. A win over the Cardinals is a win over the Cardinals, no matter the context.
