OFFICIAL: #NYR have claimed forward Matt Puempel off waivers. pic.twitter.com/nJHc0cInEA
— x – New York Rangers (@NYRangers) November 21, 2016
Matt Puempel is a former 2011 first round pick from Ottawa, who has 4 goals and 2 assists in 52 career NHL games. With Zibanejad out long term and Buchnevich’s status unknown, this is a solid move by Jeff Gorton to replenish the depth down the lineup. Classic low risk-high reward waiver claim.
