To be frank, I have almost no idea who is going to available for the Nets tonight as they look to beat the lowly Philadelphia 76ers for the second time this season. Joe Johnson, who missed Wednesday’s loss in Chicago due to the flu, is likely to play but Mirza Teletovic’s status (hip) is unknown and Kevin Garnett (foot) is questionable. What we do know is that Brook Lopez (back) won’t play. Also, it’s not known if Davies will suit up for his new team against his old one.
Brooklyn and Philly actually just completed a trade yesterday that sent Andrei Kirilenko to the 76ers with Jorge Gutierrez, a future second round pick, the right to swap future second round picks and cash for Brandon Davies. Philly waived Gutierrez and is expected to waive Kirilenko but Brooklyn probably will keep Davies. The move was strictly a financial one for the Nets.
Anyway, there is a game to be played tonight and it’s one the Nets need (stunning, right). They have lost their last three games, all by more than 20 points, and are 8-12. If they can’t take advantage of home games against the worst team in the NBA, when are they going to win?
Probable Lineups
PHI- Michael Carter-Williams (PG), Hollis Thompson (SG), Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (SF), Nerlens Noel (PF), Henry Sims (C)
BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Joe Johnson (SG), Sergey Karasev (SF), Kevin Garnett (PF), Mason Plumlee (C)
Final Thoughts
A loss would send the New York media into near-hysteria over this team but thankfully I don’t see it happening. The Nets get Joe Johnson back and that should be enough against this shell of a team in Philly.
