The Tampa Bay Lightning lost for the eighth time in ten games as Evgeni Nabokov and the New York Islanders shut them out 2-0 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
Nabokov stopped all 18 of the Bolts shots on the way to his second shutout of the season and 54th of his career.
The Islanders netted the only goal they needed in the second period when John Tavares scored past goalie Anders Lindback in the crease. The goal was Tavares’ fourth in his last five games. (Photo/New York Islanders)
The Islanders Brad Boyes added an empty net goal.
The Bolts had only 12 shots after two periods and finished with a total of 18.
Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier was placed on injured reserve Thursday and will likely miss at least a week. The Lightning recalled Tyler Johnson from Syracuse. Johnson leads the AHL in goals with 31.
