Game 3: Survive And Advance

After 6 hours and 20 minutes of rain delays combined the past two days, the Cardinals left Cincinnati with a series win and a strong reminder to all of us that on any particular game day, you never know what you’re going to see.

Matt Adams shoving a fan in the stands? Check. Jhonny Peralta hammering a home run? Check. The full 2010 MC Hammer concert from Great American Ballpark played in Great American Ballpark during a 3:42 rain delay that somehow came within 1 minute of being the exact playing time of the actual game (3:41)? Check.

The name of the game, though, is to win series. Survive and advance.

And while the Cardinals didn’t play their best baseball (that’s 5 errors in 3 games – only 1 this game, but the most embarrassing of all), they got a road series win against a team that’s middle of the pack at worst and a Wild Card contender at best.

Let’s hope Mother Nature is more kind in Pittsburgh over the weekend.

Speaking of, Shelby Miller will take the mound. Remember him? He hasn’t pitched a big league game since getting 1 inning of work against the Pirates on October 4th 2013. Welcome back, Shelby.
