Mike Green‘s power play goal with 2:01 left in overtime gave the Washington Capitals a 6-5 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning last night.
Washington had built a 5-1 lead, but gave it all back as the Bolts tied the game with three goals in the third period. A slashing call to Vincent Lecavalier in the overtime session gave the Capitals he power play chance.

Goalie Ben Bishop was pulled after the first period that saw him give up three goals on 20 shots. Mathieu Garon made 15-of-18 stops after that. Bishop played well despite being pulled. The score could have been much worse if not for his play.
Panik had his best game as an NHLer, scoring twice and adding an assist while earning a +4 rating.
After being dominated by the Capitals and being outshot 20-6 in the first period, the Lightning outshot Washington the rest of the way 32-14, including a season high 21 shots in the second period.
