What to watch
1. Ben McLemore’s minutes
The rookie guard has seen his playing time dip substantially in recent contests. During the Kings’ six-game road trip, McLemore has played just 13.2 minutes a night. One of McLemore’s best games of the season came in the Kings’ last victory over the Rockets where McLemore put together a solid defensive effort against James Harden. If Marcus Thornton has trouble holding serve against the Rockets’ All-Star guard, will McLemore get extra playing time tonight?
2. Does Carl Landry make an appearance against his old team?
Landry is back in the mix for the Kings after sitting out much of the season with a hip injury. He made his season debut Sunday, playing garbage time in a blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, he didn’t play against the Pelicans last night, despite the Kings’ stranglehold of the game going into the fourth quarter. With the Kings playing their second game in as many nights, will Landry get a shot to play a few meaningful minutes against the Rockets?
3. Will the Kings’ offense click for a second-straight night?
When their offense is clicking, the Kings are a tough team to beat. This season, the Kings are 14-3 when they attempt more shots in a game against their opposition. They’re also 14-13 when they score a 100 or more points. Even with the presence of Dwight Howard, the Rockets are not known as a dominant team on defense. If their offense continues to roll, the Kings can be in good position to wrap up this six-game trip on a high note.
