Just when the Nets appeared a dead and buried team with no hope or positive feelings at all, they go into our Nation’s Capital and rout the Washington Wizards, who only had four prior home losses this season.

Brooklyn did that last night, snapping a seven-game losing streak that took the Nets from being a .500 team to one severely under .500. Also, taking into consideration that Brook Lopez and Jarrett Jack–who each scored 26 points yesterday–were nearly traded in a proposed three-team deal with the Hornets and Thunder on Thursday, there were many reasons why the Nets shouldn’t have won on Friday.

But, in stunning fashion, Brooklyn got back on the right track even without big performances from Joe Johnson, Bojan Bogdanovic or Mirza Teletovic, who all continued their shooting struggles. And, as Deron Williams remains injured, the Nets don’t even have their starting point guard available, making the win all the more important and surprising.

Probable Lineups

WAS- John Wall (PG), Bradley Beal (SG), Paul Pierce (SF), Nene Hilario (PF), Marcin Gortat (C)

BKN- Jarrett Jack (PG), Bojan Bogdanovic (SG), Joe Johnson (SF), Kevin Garnett (PF), Mason Plumlee (C)

Final Thoughts

Sweeping a home-and-home with the Wizards would be shocking for sure but would be exactly what the doctor ordered for the Nets. The key for Brooklyn is to win the turnover battle again (Nets committed 10 to Washington’s 19 last night) as well as make the open shots allowed by the Wizards’ defense. If the Nets can take care of those things, they have a good shot today.
