What to watch
1. Will Rudy Gay play?
It sounds like Gay is further along in his recovery than DeMarcus Cousins, but will he be healthy enough to play against Denver? Sacramento desperately needs his scoring touch, especially against the high-flying Nuggets. The Kings’ starting small forward is listed as day-to-day.
2. Can Marcus Thornton do it again?
After an abysmal start to the season, Thornton caught fire against the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, tying his career high in points with 42. Sacramento needs Thornton to build off the effort and not just while Cousins and Gay are nursing injuries.
3. Can someone else step up for the Kings?
Thomas and Thornton combined for 80 points on Friday against Indiana. If they had any help at all, they would have beat the team with the best record in the NBA. Michael Malone needs Williams, Thompson and Jimmer Fredette to come alive if Sacramento wants to avoid its third straight loss.
