The Carolina Hurricanes scored three first period goals and went on to beat the Lightning 3-2.

Carolina’s second goal of the first period ocurred when Jiri Tlusty‘s pass bounced of Victor Hedman‘s skate and into the net.
The third “Canes goal of the period happened after a shot bounced off Ryan Malone, right to Tlusty who made no mistake and beat Lindback.
Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis scored for the Bolts. The goal was Stamkos’ 28th and pot him within two of Alex Ovechkin for the league lead. St Louis goal was his 13th and was assisted by Vincent Lecavalier.
Tampa Bay’s losing streak is now at six games, their longest streak of futility of the season.
Expect Radko Gudas and Richard Panik to be reassigned to Syracuse for their playoffs.
