Three things to ponder
1. Perimeter defense
The Kings have been exposed as a terrible unit guarding the perimeter, which is why Sacramento sees the second-most 3-pointers in the NBA per game launched against them (25.1). The Warriors shot 17-for-40 from behind the arc in their blowout win on January 23, so there’s no reason why they should change their approach.
2. Pace
It’s common knowledge that you don’t challenge the Warriors, the No. 1 fast break team, to a track meet. Sacramento has yet to hear the memo, because in their two losses to Golden State this season, they’ve been out-sprinted 48-31 in fast break points. It doesn’t help that the Kings can’t slow anyone in transition, ranking last in the league in opponent fast break points per contest (15.5).
3. Turnovers
In their two previous meetings, the Kings spilled a combined 49 turnovers. DeMarcus Cousins accounted for 11, so an improvement in team ball control starts with the All-Star center.
