Game 52: Brewers 1 Pirates 0

The Pirates are 29-33 and eight games behind the Brewers. They’re 3-10 against the Brewers this year. In two of the four series they’ve played against them, they won the first game of the series in crushing fashion and then lost all of the rest of the games in the series. In the last three series against the Brewers, they’ve lost four games by one run; that includes the Jason Grilli/Ryan Braun game, the other Jason Grilli/Ryan Braun game, the Mark Melancon came, and this one in which they out-hit the Brewers 5-4, drew three walks to the Brewers one, and lost 1-0 on an unearned run.

I don’t know, I don’t have a lot else to say; it’s nice that Jeff Locke pitched well and obviously putting a ton of stock in one-sided one-run results isn’t all that wise, but you can’t lose this many times to the team in front of you in the standings and have a division title remain a realistic goal.
