Three things to ponder
1. Grizzlies’ Achilles
The Grizzlies rarely allow open looks or put opponents on the line, and it’s no surprise their nasty defense surrenders the least points per game (95.5). Yet Memphis ranks a mediocre 17th in the NBA in fast break points allowed, which plays to George Karl and Sacramento’s favor.
2. Center of attention
Pivots Marc Gasol and DeMarcus Cousins lead their respective clubs in scoring. The All-Stars also serve as anchors to their team’s defense, but Boogie has a ways to go to match Gasol’s impact on that side of the floor. It’s safe to say at this point that where Cousins goes, the Kings go.
3. Bounce back
After an exciting, scrappy home win in Karl’s debut versus the Boston Celtics, the Kings lost by 29 in Los Angeles to the short-handed Clippers. Sacramento returns home for tonight’s contest, and with it hopefully their energy and hustle.
