Game #60: Columbus Blue Jackets @ Boston Bruins

large-1 (1)

Tonight the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Boston Bruins by a score of 6-4. The game was a back and forth affair, Boone Jenner led the Jackets with two goals on the evening.

Highlights:

Good, Better, Best

Good: Ryan Murray

Not a bad evening for your first multi point game, eh? Ryan Murray has had a roller coaster of a season and has seen his stock go up and go down. He has played with pretty much every single defensive player on the roster at some point in time this year. Enter Seth Jones. Finally, Murray has found a player that is able to keep up with him in every way possible.  And in the process, Murray may have got his groove back. His two assists on the evening led the team and he also led the team in time on ice. He is finally becoming the player others have wanted, are you ready?

Better: Dalton Prout and Fedor Tyutin

As you can see in the graph further down in the article, Tyutin and Prout absolutely dominated the puck tonight. They have been doing this for quite some time, they don’t bring anything at all offensively but they are one hell of an intimidating pairing. They suppress shots like no one else in the league and they do it in such a workmanlike way. I think Prout’s empty net goal was the hockey gods giving him a little something after all of his hard work.

Best: Boone Jenner

Two goals in one game is a pretty good game for anyone but it is just another night for Jenner, who is having a breakout year. Now sitting at 21 goals on the year, he has officially broken the twenty goal mark for the first time in his career and I am sure it won’t be the last time either as Jenner continues to progress with the Blue Jackets. His five shots on goal led the team on the evening and he also led the team in power play time on ice. It is great to see a young player finally getting the opportunity to come into the prime of his career.
