Up until their stunning loss on Friday night in Boston against the Celtics, the Brooklyn Nets were riding a four-game winning streak, had more wins than losses this season, and were playing their best basketball of the year. However, against Paul Pierce's and Kevin Garnett's old team, Jason Kidd's squad faltered, and lost a very winnable matchup against an inferior division rival.

The Nets shot just 4-of-30 from three-point range on Friday, which is good/bad for 13.3 percent, a mark that would be bad for a college, high school, middle school, or elementary school team. Brooklyn fought back in 2nd half, cutting their deficit down to just two points at one mark, but couldn't string enough scores and stops together to mount a successful and complete comeback. So, just two days after going over .500 for the first time in the 2013-14 campaign, Brooklyn was right back at it (30-30) after a disappointing performance.

The good thing about the NBA is that the games come right after each other, so the Nets have a chance to right the ship tonight, at home, against the struggling Sacramento Kings, a team mired in the Western Conference's cellar. Kevin Garnett is out and Paul Pierce is dealing with a shoulder stinger, but the Nets still have their main stable of guys who should be able to handle DeMarcus Cousins, Reggie, Rudy Gay, Isaiah Thomas, and the rest of rookie coach Mike Malone's team.

Probable Lineups

SAC- Isaiah Thomas (PG), Ben McLemore (SG), Rudy Gay (SF), Jason Thompson (PF), DeMarcus Cousins (C)

BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Shaun Livingston (SG), Joe Johnson (SF), Paul Pierce (PF), Mason Plumlee (C)

Final Thoughts

Yeah, it won't be good if the Nets lost this game too and went back under .500 after failures against Boston and Sacramento. It's fair to say they need to make more than 13 percent of their threes.
