Brooklyn is back in action tonight in Philadelphia against the 76ers after a few days of rest following yet another brutal loss, this time at the hands of the Miami Heat down in South Beach.
The Nets lost 104-98 to the Heat on Wednesday night, dropping their fifth consecutive game and falling further back in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Things are getting very dire for Brooklyn, which has completely collapsed since its pair of impressive back-to-back wins at Dallas and home versus Golden State.
Simply put, the 76ers are as close to purposely losing games at this point as they possibly could. However, this goes against the Nets’ recent tendency to be unable to beat teams they severely overplay for a half or more. Gonna be an interesting one.
Probable Lineups
BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Markel Brown (SG), Joe Johnson (SF), Thaddeus Young (PF), Brook Lopez (C)
PHI- Isaiah Canaan (PG), JaKarr Sampson (SG), Robert Covington (SF), Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (PF), Nerlens Noel (C)
Final Thoughts
The Nets have lost four games in a row and yet are somehow just 3.5 games out of the No. 8 spot. If they lose tonight to the tanking 76ers, they clearly don’t deserve to play meaningful April basketball. Also, with a loss, it’d be hard for them to sneak into the field anyway. Bottomline: This is the team’s most important game of the season to date.
