It’s the biannual Battle of the Plumlees tonight in the desert as the Nets start a quick, three-game Western Conference road swing with a game against the Phoenix Suns. Mason, who is the younger brother by a year, outplayed Miles in both meetings between the Nets and Suns last season, both of which the Nets won.

Also, Phoenix has both of the Morris brothers–Markieff and Marcus–as well as both of the Dragic brothers–Goran and Zoran. That makes for three sets of brothers set to be involved in this game. And it could have been four if Robin Lopez–Brook’s twin–wasn’t on the Trail Blazers as he was drafted by the Suns and spent a couple of years of Phoenix.

Anyway, getting back to the game, it’s going to be an exciting one. Phoenix is unusual in that it regularly uses three point guards–Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe, and the newly-acquired Isaiah Thomas–in its rotation. That’ll make Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, and Jarrett Jack have a tough time on defense this evening.

Brooklyn should have an easier time in the frontcourt, as the Suns–who are coming off a win over the previously-undefeated Warriors–have Markieff Morris and Miles Plumlee going up against Kevin Garnett and Brook Lopez. KG and Brook need to, and have the ability and size, dominate that matchup.

Probable Lineups

BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Joe Johnson (SG), Bojan Bogdanovic (SF), Kevin Garnett (PF), Brook Lopez (C)

PHX- Eric Bledsoe (PG), Goran Dragic (SG), Marcus Morris (SF), Markieff Morris (PF), Miles Plumlee (C)

Final Thoughts

This is the first game of a back-to-back for Brooklyn that continues tomorrow night in Oakland against the Warriors. Golden State has been really good this season, so it’s important the Nets get a win tonight. Losing both ends of this back-t0-back would not be a good look.
