Highlights:

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The Good: Jared Boll Goal

A lot of times through out this season, I have made a point about how bad the fourth line has been. Almost on every occasion I bring up how offensive they are offensively. The team has been carried at times by the top six and have needed more support. I will now give credit, where credit is due, Jared Boll scored a goal. It wasn’t a spectacular goal but it was a goal nonetheless. The laughable part about the goal is that it came on a day when no other Blue Jackets scored. Meaning that this goal was all for not. I do hope that moving forward that if Boll finds the ice, that he is able to find the back of the net more often, his teammates sure need it.

The Bad: Everything else from the fourth line

Would you believe that one of the two shot attempts the fourth line was on the ice for went in the net? Well you better start believing it because that was the case. They each faced 8+ attempts against while at even strength, a mark that at best put them at 20%, a putrid number. Yesterday the fourth line was able to make a difference due to their dynamic play but today other than the lone goal, it was a shooting gallery against them.

The Ugly: David Savard

Overall, David Savard didn’t have that bad of a game. Many other moments and plays during the game could be pointed out as poor but Savard was seemingly around for a lot of these moments. His two slashing penalties were real momentum killers that ate up precious minutes on the clock for the Jackets. He also found himself net front on the two Devils goals. Not a lot could be done on either but they were moments that he has to want back. Savard, whether you like it or not is part of the future of this team, these are the kind of mistakes that need to be cut down moving forward.
