I wasn't able to watch this game (due to out-of-state college visits to places where I couldn't get the YES Network or a reliable internet connection) but I'm glad I didn't. Following along on my phone's ESPN app was enough to show me that the brutally-good-at-home Nuggets simply outplayed a less road-apt Nets team that certainly benefit from missing 18 free throws (of the attempted 36) and just 41 percent shooting from the field compared to Denver's 57 percent mark. The Nuggets took the lead right out of the gates and were able to expand it all the way to 22 points in the second quarter. Brooklyn whittled it down from there to 12 points in some instances, but never cut it close enough to make a serious run.
The loss–combined with a Knicks win and Pacers off-day–pushes New York ahead of Indiana into the East's 2nd-seed and knocks the Nets 3.5 games behind both teams, which are just .004 separated in the standings.
Some other observations I had from the game: None, but I can continue the #ReggieEvansReboundWatch thanks to box scores. Another strong night for Reggie on the glass, as he collected 16 boards while scoring 15 points. Some player.
Looking Ahead
The Nets get right back at it as they head to Utah to take on the Jazz later tonight (or tomorrow, based on where you live in the US).
