What to watch
1. Can Rudy Gay bounce back from a lackluster performance?
The Kings starting small forward had an abysmal outing against Oklahoma City yesterday evening. Gay finished with just seven points on an inefficent 3-of-11 shooting from the field. To make matters worst, Kevin Durant scored a game-high 29 points on 9-of-11 shooting in just 29 minutes. With Thomas’ health still in question, the Kings need Gay to get back to his highly-efficient scoring ways in Dallas today.
2. Will Ben McLemore get to the free throw line?
McLemore finished with solid numbers in yesterday’s blowout loss to the Thunder. He scored 18 points on 5-of-16 shooting and went 3-of-7 from 3-point distance as well. However, what stood out most about his play yesterday evening was that he finally got to the free throw line for the first time in six games. Prior to yesterday’s contest, McLemore had gone two weeks without attempting a single free throw with his last attempt coming March 12 against Philadelphia. A more aggressive McLemore can only help their cause today in Dallas.
3. Can the Kings snap a 19-game losing streak in Dallas?
The Kings have not won a game in Dallas in a very long time. The last time they came away with a victory over the Mavericks on their home floor was on Feb. 27, 2003 in a 126-124 overtime victory. The Mavs are coming off a six-point loss to the Los Angeles Clippers at the American Airlines Center on Thursday and will look to get back on track tonight as they continue their push for a birth in the Western Conference Playoffs.
