After a thorough beatdown on Wednesday night at the hands of the surging Knicks at Madison Square Garden, the Nets are back home at Barclays for one home game before heading out on the road for three in Philly, Miami, and Orlando.
Brooklyn takes on the perpetual underperforming squad in the Detroit Pistons, who after signing Josh Smith to a big deal this summer, are 21 games under .500 and are on their second coach of the year, former Nets assistant John Loyer, who took over for former Nets player Maurice Cheeks, who was fired in February.
Detroit has a pretty good starting lineup, boasting one of the NBA’s most talented frontcourts with Smith, Greg Monroe, and Andre Drummond, who always seem to give the Nets trouble. However, Smith’s extremely poor play and the lack of a substantial bench has really hurt the Pistons, who are primed to miss the postseason for the fifth season in a row.
Probable Lineups
DET- Brandon Jennings (PG), Kyle Singler (SG), Josh Smith (SF), Greg Monroe (PF), Andre Drummond (C)
BKN- Deron Williams (PG), Shaun Livingston (SG), Joe Johnson (SF), Paul Pierce (PF), Mason Plumlee (C)
Final Thoughts
To be frank, the Nets’ loss to the Knicks was embarrassing, and a team heading into the playoffs, such as Brooklyn, can’t get into a habit of playing that poorly. Tonight against a bad, bad team like Detroit is a great opportunity to get back into the winning groove.
