81 games ago, back on October 31st, the Brooklyn Nets made their 2013-14 debut with an uninspired 98-94 in Cleveland to a Cavaliers team that had Andrew Bynum, who is now on the Pacers. Brooklyn now concludes said regular season right where it started, as the Nets take on the Cavs in each team’s final regular season contest.
Cleveland has been eliminated from the Eastern Conference playoff race for awhile now, but Brooklyn will certainly be participating, yet the Nets still don’t know what seed they would be or what team they would play in the first round (consult this post for some more information on that).
Regardless of this uncertainly, Jason Kidd has already went into full-on rest mode with his older team, as Joe Johnson, Deron Williams, Shaun Livingston, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Mirza Teletovic (whose wife recently gave birth to twins) are all out. That means all reserves–Gutierrez, Teague, Thornton, Blatche, Collins (getting his first start of year)–will be starting with Andray Blatche, Mason Plumlee, and Alan Anderson coming off bench.
Probable Lineups
BKN- Jorge Gutierrez (PG), Marquis Teague (SG), Marcus Thornton (SF), Andray Blatche (PF), Jason Collins (C)
CLE- Kyrie Irving (PG), Dion Waiters (SG), Alonzo Gee (SF), Tristan Thompson (PF), Spencer Hawes (C)
Final Thoughts
Yeah, the Nets aren’t trying too hard to win this game.
