What to watch
1. Can the Kings limit the turnovers?
Sacramento has done a particularly good job handling the ball early this season. They are currently ranked No. 1 in the NBA in fewest turnovers committed. However, they had issues hanging onto the ball against the Detroit Pistons, coughing up 17 turnovers in a loss Friday night. Their carelessness with the ball led to 22 points off turnovers versus the Pistons, which essentially was the difference in the game. Memphis has been one of the best defensive teams in the league in recent years so the Kings will have to do a solid job of controlling their possessions..
2. Can the Kings control the glass?
Today features a primetime match-up in the frontcourt between Marc Gasol and DeMarcus Cousins. Both big men are two of the best rebounders in the NBA. Whichever team controls the boards in today’s game will play a key role in determining the victor.
3. Will Ben McLemore break out?
McLemore has looked like the rookie that he is through his first two starts. He scored just two points on 1-of-8 shooting in his first start against the Nets and seven points on 2-of-6 shooting versus the Pistons Friday evening. He’ll have his hands full against Tony Allen, one of the league’s elite defenders McLemore has the advantage of youth on his side and staying in motion on the offense will be nceessary for him in order to have a breakout game.
