I had this post finished early this morning when it was swallowed into the internet ether and so much of the nuance is going to be lost. The main gist of it, though, is that if the Pirates do somehow win the National League Central and go on to the playoffs in 2011, Joe Beimel striking out Jay Bruce with the bases loaded and the Pirates dodging that bullet for their second straight shutout of one of the National League’s best offenses is going to be something I remember. Specifically, it’s going to be the moment that I threw up my hands and said, “I can’t figure this team out. None of it makes sense.”
It’s awesome.
