Angels Logo VS. White Sox Logo

Counting down to the Angels’ game against the White Sox in which the Angels look to cure their road woes.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (18-23) @ Chicago White Sox (16-22)

Game Starters: LAA – Joe Saunders (2-5, 4.96 ERA)  CWS – John Danks (3-2, 2.25 ERA)

Game Info: 5:10 PM PT TV-Fox Sports West; Radio-ESPN Radio, KLAA 830 AM, KWKW 1330 AM

5. Will Joe Saunders be able to build on his shutout last time out?  I’d like to say yes, but he had his worst start of the year the start after he pitched eight shutout innings in Toronto, so there is no guarantee that Saundo has finally seen the light.

4. The Angels will find out tonight that they are not alone in their struggles to coax along a mightily disappointing young third baseman.  The Angels have Brandon Wood, but the White Sox have Gordon Beckham who has been almost as bad as Wood this year (almost).  Maybe Wood and Beckham can talk after the game and form some kind of support group for mega-prospect third basemen that didn’t pan out.  I’ll give Alex Gordon and Andy Marte a call to see if they are free.

3. At what point do we start worrying about why the Angels can’t win on the road?  They are now 6-12 away from Anaheim and with how many road games they have coming up in June (thanks, Bono), they need to do something to get their road mojo going or their season is going to be over by the Fourth of July.

2. Allow me to take a moment to point out that AJ Pierzynski is hitting just .202 on the year with a wretched .552 OPS.  Hmm, over four seasons later and I’m still bitter over that BS he pulled in the 2005 ALCS.  I kind of thought I would be over it by now, but I definitely am not.  Hopefully a Kevin Jepsen fastball manages to find its way into Pierzynski’s earhole tonight.

1. It is going to be a tough draw for the Halos tonight as they get John Danks hurling for the ChiSox.  Danks may only be 3-2 this year, but he has a stellar 2.25 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP.  He has also been a model of consistency for Chicago, allowing three earned runs or fewer in each of his starts.  Whatever the Angels did to solve CJ Wilson last night, they’ll have to apply it again tonight and hope for the best.
