5. What happens when two underachieving teams collide?  I guess we will find out today as both of these teams enter this game coming off being swept by supposedly inferior teams.  Considering that and the rivalry between the teams, the winner of this series could get a huge boost of confidence, especially if the Angels win since they have a lot more animosity towards Boston than they do for the Halos.

4. This could end poorly and quickly for Joe Saunders who is clinging to the hope that some mechanical adjustments will get his season back on track.  Combine that with him being thrown to the Fenway wolves and I have the feeling that Matt Palmer might want to be sitting next to the bullpen phone tonight.

3. Time to find out if the ALDS victory finally cured the Angels of their Fenway Park aversion.  This stupid ballpark has been home to many a Halo horror, but some of those demons got exorcised last season, but the question is just how many still remain lurking in the back of the Angels’ collective consciousness.

2. With Scot Shields already a raging disaster this year, I wonder if the Halos even bothered to have him make the trip to Boston where Fenway Park has long served as his personal house of horrors.  Frankly, he has been so bad this season, I don’t think there is any sense in keeping him around at all anymore.  Just send him to the DL and have him work out his issues in the minors where he can’t do anymore damage to the Angel record.

1. Might Clay Buchholz be the only Red Sox starter that the Angels own?  He comes into this one sporting a 6.35 career ERA and 1.765 WHIP to go with his 1-2 record against the Angels, and that doesn’t even count his start in Game 3 of the Angels’ series-clinching ALDS sweep last year.
