With all the attention focused on Joe Saunders’ bum shoulder and the roller coaster ride of a season Ervin Santana has had, but the one guy that keeps slipping under the radar is Jered Weaver, and why not, he has a 12-4 record so all must be OK, right?  Maybe not.

Jered Weaver

After a bit of a rough patch in July, Weaver looked like he was back on track before getting absolutely destroyed in his last start against the Orioles.  The Angels have enough to worry about as it is, so you know they will be holding their breath and crossing their fingers, toes and whatever other parts of their anatomy they can cross that Weave gets his act together tonight.

THREE Questions:

  • I’m not letting this go.  Why is Rivera batting third and Hunter fifth?  This serves no purpose.  If Hunter is healthy enough to bat fifth, he can definitely bat third.
  • Will we get to see Matt LaPorta?  The Indians just called up LaPorta, one of the top prospects in baseball.  I know he isn’t an Angel, but it is always fun to get a look at a potential rising star, especially since the Angels like leaving theirs in the minors for three years (cough, Brandon Wood, cough, cough).
  • Why did Scioscia have to start Kendrick over Izturis and ruin the .300 Club starting line-up?  I wasn’t done having fun with that yet.

TWO Predictions:

  • Maybe it is just wishful thinking, but I think Weaver’s going to bounce back in a big way and pitch seven innings of one-run ball.
  • With Kevin Jepsen spent, Jason Bulger gets the call to set-up and ends up blowing the save.

ONE Wish:

  • That the Indians would’ve started Wyatt Toregas again just to hear Rex Hudler butcher his a name another few dozen times.

ZERO Tolerance for… Shin-Soo Choo.  How the hell is this guy killing the Angels?  I know it is only 13 at-bats, but dude is hitting .615 against the Halos this year and has five runs, two doubles and two steals in just four games.  He’s having a nice season and everything, but he isn’t that good.
