Game Day: Bruins @ Oilers: Hall vs. Segin

Game 62: Boston Bruins at Edmonton Oilers - 2/27/11
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages — Days of Y’Orr proudly presents to you the match-up you’ve all been waiting for. Since June 2010, these two combatants have been compared up and down, left and right, sideways and rightways. For a long time coming we’ve thought of the days that these two would meet in the iced oval and tonight we are able to bring that to you.

Coming down the aisle, weighing in at 194 lbs, he hails from Calgary, Alberta, Canda. He is the number one overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He is…TAYYYYYYYYYYYYYLORRRRRRRRRRR HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

And his opponent, weighing in at 182 lbs, he checks in from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He’s known as “The Kid” and was the number two pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Stepping into the iced oval, here is TYLERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGUINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

Game Day: Bruins @ Oilers: Hall vs. Segin

So here we are, the top two picks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft are facing each other and both are going down some very extreme paths. If we were to look at personal statistics, Hall blows Seguin out of the water.

Hall: 62 games played, 21 goals, 19 assists, 40 points, -8, 8 power play goals, 18:18 minutes per game
Seguin: 56 games played, 10 goals, 11 assists, 21 points, +1, 1 power play goal, 12:18 minutes per game

More on Tyler vs. Taylor after the jump…

With those numbers standing, you have to look at where each team is going. Edmonton is 20-34-8, has 48 points and is last in the Western Conference. It’s easy for Edmonton to let Hall go out there and skate around without a care in the world. Boston is a little different. The Bruins are 35-19-7, have 77 points and are third in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins don’t have the luxury of having Seguin float around out there, use him on the power play (even though I would love them to put him on one of the units) and get acclimated to the NHL level. Boston doesn’t have the time with the playoffs creeping around the corner.

The Oilers are coming off of a 5-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues. Oilers goalie Devan Dubnyk stopped 17 of 22 shots. Day of Y’Orr has a rare in-game snap shot of him.

Game Day: Bruins @ Oilers: Hall vs. Segin

The black and gold boys are coming off of a tough game in Vancouver where they won 3-1 and played some good hockey. Nathan Horton (16), Milan Lucic (27) and Patrice Bergeron (21) all scored for the Bruins as THomas looked masterful between the pipes again, stopping 27 shots. As the game went on it seemed that the Bruins were getting better. It’ll be interesting to see how this team plays on the second night of a back to back on the road.

Projected Lineup:

Milan Lucic-David Krejci-Nathan Horton
Brad Marchand-Patrice Bergeron-Mark Recchi
Rich Peverley-Chris Kelly-Michael Ryder
Tyler Seguin-Gregory Campbell-Shawn Thornton

Zdeno Chara-Johnny Boychuk
Dennis Seidenberg-Tomas Kaberle
Steven Kampfer-Adam McQuaid

Tuukka Rask
Tim Thomas

Ference “lower body injury” is putting him at a maybe for today’s game. Good chance BAMpFer will start.

When last we saw our caped crusader… back-to-back wins means:
