Bruins vs. Capitals. Before the season started you’d think “Oh man, top two teams will be going at it tonight!”
Instead we’re saying, “Wow… two re-res going at it. Who wants to stop the bleeding first?”
Good question. We’ll see who has more heart today.
And that’s what it’s going to come down to…. Heart.
Yea… Captain Planet reference that doesn’t involve Ference. Suck it.
If this game really does come down to a 12-year-old kid from the jungle who has a monkey companion we’re all fucked. Just sayin’.
Bruins are now 4-4-2 in last 10 games. Crapitals are even worse — 3-5-2. Caps struggle on the road; Bruins struggle at home.
That’s today’s prediction. Surprise butt sex. Who’s doing the butt sexing remains to be seen.

After the jump…. people calling for Julien’s head… projected roster…. game day links… and game day video…
Heat’s on Captain Ovie to right the ship.
The leadership must come from within – and specifically in the person of Ovechkin, who has been a follow-me type of leader since assuming the captaincy from Chris Clark, as opposed to someone who can rally the troops the way Chicago’s Jonathan Toews can. —Eric Duhatschek (The Globe and Mail)
Off with his head!
Bruins lackluster play of late has re-engergized the “Fire Julien!” crowd.
Not our pic, btw.
Looks like even some of the MSM are hinting towards it.
We’re Julien apologists here at DOY HQ, but the Bruins have fell behind or been tied in the first period 16 times so far? For those playing at home, that’s roughly 50% of the games played. That’s a lot.
Championship teams hit hard early and often. Bruins seem to need two periods before they find their feet.
Some quotes recently from Bruins haven’t pleased us much either:
“There’s still some positives in a loss.” — Gregory Campbell.
“[I liked] the way we played in the third period.’’ — Julien
“I think in the locker room we were ready to go; I think all the right things were said in the locker room, but it didn’t really translate in the first half of that first period.’’ — Blake Wheeler
Ugh.
We think the Bruins are in the “stay optimistic” stage of struggling. If this keeps up it’ll go into “rage.” Some rage might not be so bad.
Julien’s writing the struggles off as mental.
“Sometimes you overthink all these situations. If you keep hammering that over and over again that you need a good start, it ends up creeping in your head. Sometimes it can be more of a negative than a positive. Sometimes it’s about changing your way of sending the message and hopefully getting that result.’’
Time to send a different message.

- Bruce Boudreau likes to swear… a fucking lot… RocktheRed.net has some fucking fantastic tips for explaining his fucking sailor mouth to your fuckhead fucking kids.
- What’s worse: That HBO felt the need to use subtitles for when Ovie speaks, or the fact that they spelled Ottawa wrong?
- Steve Kampfer doesn’t care about NHL stars. Steve Kapmfer is a BAMF.
