First Quarter Recap
The first quarter was a nightmare for the Sacramento Kings. Washington shot an unbelievable 71.4% from the field, led by Nick Young and his 14 points. Rookie John Wall looked strong as well, scoring eight early points and dishing out four assists. Jason Thompson led the Kings with six points, but he and his teammates got out-rebounded 16-7 by a marginal rebounding Wizards team. The Wizards also recorded a very healthy 11 assists in the first and took a 19 point lead into the second frame.

Second Quarter Recap
The Kings woke up in the second, turning up their defensive intensity and cutting the Wizards lead to seven in the first five minutes of the quarter. At the 2:42 mark of the second, the Kings completed their unlikely first half turn-around when they took a lead at 49-48. Omri Casspi and Carl Landry came off the bench for the Kings and scored eight points apiece to get the team going, while starters Beno Udrih, Francisco Garcia and DeMarcus Cousins woke up from their first quarter slumber. After trailing by as many as 20 and leading by as many as six, the resurgent Kings took a two point lead into the half.

Third Quarter Recap
After clawing their way back into the game during the second, the Kings gave it away again in the third. After turning the ball over just once in the first half, they gave it away six times in the third. The Wizards used an 11-0 run to take a twelve point lead at 3:36 mark on balanced scoring. Nick Young finished the third with a game high 35 points, using a barrage of three pointers late in the third to drive the Wizards’ lead as high as 16. The Kings finished on a mini-run, cutting the lead to 10, but Nick Young canned another three pointer and the Wizards took an 11 point lead to the fourth.

Fourth Quarter Recap
The Kings quickly turned things around in the fourth, cutting the Wizard lead to three within the first four minutes of the quarter. The Wizards responded early, but the Kings kept coming. With 2:05 left, the Kings had the ball, down six. Beno Udrih tossed the ball out of bounds for a turnover. With 1:10 left, John Wall hit a jumper to stretch the Wizards’ lead to eight. They went to rookie DeMarcus Cousins, who continued his miserable night. Mired in a 3-14 shooting night, the Kings’ big man missed yet another lay-in. Jermaine Taylor was able to tie up Blatche on the rebound; the Wizards won the tip, but Casspi stole the ball and the Kings cut the lead to six on a tip-in. After two John Wall free throws, Francisco Garcia got fouled shooting a three. He hit both the basket and the free throw to cut the lead to four with 31.9 left. The Wizards continued to hit their free throws and the Kings continued to score all the way down the stretch.
The Kings’ Jermaine Taylor put back a Francisco Garcia miss to cut the lead to four. On the in-bounds play, Garcia stole the ball, laid it in and got fouled. With 11 seconds left, the veteran out of Louisville made it a one point game at 124-125, Wizards. Nick Young stepped to the line with 7.6 seconds left and nailed his 40th point of the night, but he bricked the second, leaving it a two point game with 7.3 seconds left. Rookie Pooh Jeter took the ball and John Wall blew by him for the game tying lay-up with 3.6 seconds left. Jeter, with the game on the line, played impeccable defense on John Wall, leading to a miss and overtime.

Overtime Recap
The Wizards took an early three point lead in the extra frame on yet another three point shot by the man of the night, Nick Young. A series of poor shots by the Kings led to a five point deficit with 28.7 seconds left. The Wizards bailed out the Kings, fouling Garcia again on a three point attempt. Garcia hit all three freebies and cut the Wizards’ lead to two with 25.2 seconds left. The Kings forced a turnover, but Beno Udrih gave it back with a bad pass with 5.0 seconds left. Al Thornton hit the first free throw, but bricked the second. With 2.1 seconds left, the Kings got the ball back, needing a three to tie. The prayer by Cousins wasn’t answered and the Wizards extended the Kings’ road losing streak to ten.

Player of the Game: Nick Young. No need for a “difference maker” – Young would win that award also. The fourth year guard out of USC torched the Kings for a career high 43 points on 14-22 from the field and a ridiculous 7-10 from three point range. The Kings fought back again and again, but Young always seemed to answer with a big shot to keep the Wizards going.
