To say that least week didn’t go very well is an understatement, however, this is a new week and hopefully a fresh start.  The Angels have returned home though with hopes that being back in their own backyard will cure what ails them.

Toeing the rubber tonight will be Jered Weaver, hoping to play the role of slump buster (not the Mark Grace kind).

Jered Weaver

Unfortunately, he’ll be squaring off against Armando Galarraga, who has given up just one earned run in his two starts this season, not exactly what the doctored ordered for the second-worst offense in the American League.  Fear not though because a shakeup of sorts is on the way.  News came in earlier today that Brandon Wood was promoted to the big league club (with Kevin Jepsen going to the DL).

Brandon Wood

Whether or not Wood plays remains to be seen.  Since he was just called up, he may not be quite ready to suit up depending on what time he arrived in Anaheim.  My sincere is that he does play, not because he has been red hot at Salt Lake (4 home runs already), but because I am going to claw my eyes out if I have to watch Maicer Izturis or Robb Quinlan bat third again.  Then again, if the Angels can actually win, I won’t care whose playing or batting where in the order.

What to Watch For:

  • Will Woody play?
  • After an off day, the bullpen should be rested, so hopefully Scioscia can resist the temptation to use someone other than Arredondo, Shields or Fuentes tonight
  • Can the Halos solve Galarraga who held the Angels to three earned runs in 14.1 innings last season
