Courtesy of Hurricane Earl…the Red Sox are playing a 2 game doubleheader with the White Sox aka the Other Sox. Clay Buchholz was on the mound verses John Danks. Clay was not the crisp, dominant version that we are used to seeing. He still only allowed two runs to score, one in the 2nd and one in the 4th. Clay was out after 5 innings with The Other Sox having a 2-1 lead. (Tito said later he pulled Clay early in hopes that he still pitches on Wednesday against the Rays). The Other Sox got one more run in the 7th inning off Atchison and that was the story. Dustin Richardson got the one out he was brought in for and then Tim Wakefield came in and pitched two scoreless innings. The Red Sox were only able to get one extra base hit and that was a double from Mike Lowell. And, since it was the return of Manny to Fenway AGAIN….he was once again greated by boos and cheers. He went 2 for 4 on the evening and thankfully this time did not homer off Tim Wakefield.
This one didn’t go our way….and in an hour and change, our boys get to take the field and do it all over again! Let’s hope that Lackey and the BATS have a better game this evening.
Red Sox LOSE 1-3 BOX SCORE
