Gamecocks Basketball Recruiting: Frank Martin on the Hunt

Newly hired South Carolina basketball coach Frank Martin is a busy man as he gets out on the recruiting trail and he is getting young men to give serious consideration for the Gamecocks.  All good news in our book.

Here are some recent notes from his recruiting activities of late:

—Coach Martin met with Tevin Glass of Alpharetta, GA and offered. Glass will take an official visit to USC in two weeks. He also plans to visit Memphis. Some of his other offers are Auburn, Mississippi State, Nevada and Jacksonville. He does not have a favorite.  He is 6’8″ so just having that size at SC would be a good thing.

—Sheldon Jeter of Beaver Falls, PA could have a decision by early next week his father said Tuesday. Jeter met last Thursday with USC coach Frank Martin and USC assistant Brad Underwood has been in the mix. The elder Jeter said his son remains open at this point with no favorite.

—Willie Moore of Cincinnati, who signed with Duquesne in November but asked for his release after the coaching change there, is looking at USC. He also is considering the Virginia Tech, Dayton, Mississippi State, Miami of Ohio and Wright State.  See what Frank can do….

—Mindaugas Kacinas of Lithuania and Wichita, KS has scheduled an official visit to USC for Wednesday.

—Thaddeus Hall of Brooklyn has postponed his official visit to USC. Hall does not yet have all of his information in to the NCAA Clearinghouse and thus is not eligible to make an official visit. USC, Virginia Tech, St. Johns, Dayton, Maryland and West Virginia have offered Hall who averaged 35 points per game last season.

—One of the top players in SC for the 2013 class Sindarius Thornwell finally got a call from Frank Martin recently.  Good move coach….
