70 was the number of games coached by Lou Holtz at South Carolina. Holtz was a legend before he came to South Carolina, and he was hailed as a savior when he arrived here. He brought immense national attention and a new excitement to the program. He led the Gamecocks to back to back Outback Bowl championships and 9 win seasons. His career at Carolina didn’t end as many hoped it would, but he is still beloved by many Gamecocks today.
