Well, we went from slow news days to two interesting stories out of the USC Gamecocks Football camp with backup quarterback Zac Brindise transfering to Western Carolina and backup defensive lineman Ronald Byrd rumored to be leaving the team. Both seem to because of playing time issues.
The State has the Zac issue up HERE. Brindise was expected to compete this fall for the third-string spot with Andrew Clifford and Dylan Thompson. Safe to say that Andrew you are now the 3rd stringer and Dylan you get to redshirt.
Hate to see Ronald Byrd leave the team if this proves true as he had huge upside but was facing challenges from recovering from a knee injury in 2009. Rumors are he did not want to put in the effort to compete for playing time and is taking the easy way out by transfering someplace else.
Oh and in non-football news – Seth Emerson of The State is leaving this week as he moves on to cover the UGa Bulldogs for another newspaper.
