Gamecocks Football: Three Things Learned at SEC Media Days

The SEC Media Days have come and gone. We inch oh so closer to the start of the 2013 college football season. In many ways, the SEC media event gets the vibes flowing and stirs up some discussions about all the "what if's" this season can bring.

Now we see that many media pundits think the Gamecocks are going to fight for the SEC East crown and could have yet another showing in the SEC Championship. I sure hope they are right and I think it is possible. Why you ask? Well, it is because of the three things I learned about the Gamecocks at the SEC Media Days…

3. The players seem relaxed, confident and positive. Call this the tri-fecta as it means good things for a football team. I loved hearing the positive talk about the team being positive, working hard in the off-season and having their minds on building from the 2012 successes.

2. Clowney. That is almost reason enough to feel good about the 2013 season. He scares opposing players and the opposing offense will have to factor for him. This may not stop him as he seems a man on a mission plus it will mean the other players on USC will need to attack. I like how this is setting up….

1. Spurrier is chipper. On twitter Barrett Sallee tweeted us and said "a confident Spurrier is a dangerous Spurrier." He is spot on folks. At the media event, Spurrier had a little bit of swagger to him and was all smiles. I have the feeling he knows he has a talented team.
