Gamecocks Recruiting Soap Opera Starring Quinshad Davis

National Signing Day is a few weeks away and the South Carolina Class of 2012 is shaping up to be a good one.  The wide reciever class could get even better if USC is able to land Gaffney’s Quinshad Davis.

USC and Davis have gone round-and-round.  USC had interest late last summer and put a offer on the table but Davis shied away from giving a strong indication he would sign at that time so USC looked at other wide outs.  Those panned out so there was no room for Davis.  Then some targeted recruits in other postions ended up going elsewhere so there was a discussion of Davis greyshirting but that did not sit well with him.  So Coach Shawn Elliott revisited him lately to say that they currently have room for him in this year’s class. He will be on campus this weekend for an official visit.

Did you follow all that?  Me neither really.

Is he worth it?  Yes.  The 6’4″ 180 pound wide out holds offers from Tennessee, Wake Forest, Clemson, Illinois, North Carolina State and South Carolina. Ole Miss is the latest to offer. The wiry receiver had 108 receptions for 2,009 yards and 25 TDs as a senior at Gaffney. He caught 94 passes for 1,481 yards and 16 touchdowns as a j  unior. He also had a 3.41 GPA in the classroom. Davis, a 4-star recruit, is the No. 67 ranked wide receiver in the Class of 2012 as rated by ESPNU.

Here is a video of him:
