Garnett, Cassell, bloggers respond to Taylor

Fanhouse has video of Garnett’s response when asked about owner Glen Taylor’s comments.
Garnett took the high road after the C’s 94-74 win in Houston last night.
“First off, I just want to say, man, Glen Taylor was good to me while I
was a Timberwolve. And I’m a Boston Celtic now,” Garnett said. “I’m not
going to be going back and forth and saying tasteless things. That’s
not my character.
“I’ll let him speak if he wants to. I have nothing to do with the
Minnesota Timberwolves. That’s my past. I’m in a new chapter in my
life, and I thank him for the opportunity when I was younger to not
only explore my dream but to make it where I’m at today. That’s all I’m
going to say about that.”
Celtics guard Sam Cassell, who played with Garnett in Minnesota from
2003-05, described Taylor’s statement as “personal.” Cassell also said
that while Garnett might have been bothered by Taylor’s words three or
four years ago, he’s too mature to let it bother him now.
“Kevin’s Kevin,” said Cassell. “Ask anyone in this organization if
Kevin tanks anything. Games? Practice? I wish he did tank a couple
practices.
I was shocked and appalled. I rarely get riled up by player-trash talk,
coach-speak or the inane excuses of professional sports management.
It’s all part of the circus… but I found this offensive.
Garnett’s agent has already called the comments “ridiculous” and state
what most of us in the public believe, that not only nothing was “more
important than bringing a championship to Minnesota” but that he was
one of the most intense players ever to step foot on the court, and the
last guy you would ever think would tank. If Taylor’s comments are
true, and personally I have trouble actually believing it, then the
Ticket was more exhausted and ready to collectively strangle the T-Wolves front office leave Minnesota than any of us really knew.
I didn’t ask Kevin about this when I interviewed him for our season preview,
but he did say something that kinda stuck out to me about the T-Wolves
front office possibly being disingenuous toward the fans. I asked him
how much control he had over being traded from the T-Wolves, how much
he could dictate where he was going…
Below is what some of the Celtics blogs had to say on Taylor’s remarks:
Loy’s Place: Sounds like a lot of sour grapes to me.
CelticsBlog: Bitter Glen Taylor Accuses KG of Tanking
Green Bandwagon:  I just found this criticism a little ridiculous.
Red’s Army: Let it go Glen.. let it go.
