Gasser Tears ACL, Out for Season

It was announced by the athletic communications staff that Badgers basketball starting point guard Josh Gasser suffered an ACL tear in his knee and will miss the entire 2012-13 season.

According to the announcement the injury happened during the team's practice on Saturday morning and Gasser will be re-evaluated later this week before undergoing surgery shortly after.

It was announced by head coach Bo Ryan that Gasser would be the starter at point guard to replace Jordan Taylor, but the man who has started 66 games in his previous two years of action at Wisconsin will not be the starter this year.

That duty will now likely fall on redshirt freshman George Marshall, who was backing up Gasser in practices leading up to today. Marshall obviously hasn't started a game in his collegiate career, but has been one of the more impressive players in practice this summer and fall leading up to camp.

We'll have more on this developing story as we get it. Good luck to Josh and we wish him a speedy and healthy recovery!
