Yankees owner George Steinbrenner passed away today due to a heart attack. Steinbrenner was 80 years old.
While the majority of epitaphs honoring Mr. Steinbrenner will joke about Jesus having to shave his beard, I would like to salute Mr. Steinbrenner for what he brought to the game of baseball. His propensity to overpay for players both motivated those players to overperform and created the salary structure we see in the game today. While I’m not a Yankees fan in the slightest, I can appreciate a man that wants nothing but the best in his life.
R.I.P. Boss.
