Ole Miss jumped out to a 10-0 second quarter lead on the road and it looked like Georgia would struggle in this one. They did struggle but only for one half of football. Georgia called a play-action fake on a third and short and Aaron Murray hit a wide open, and when I say wide open I mean fifteen yards wide open, Marlon Brown for a 66 yard TD bomb. Right before the half, Georgia squandered time on the clock and were left with just 12 seconds to go 40 yards (should I also mention it was 3rd and 26?). No problem, Aaron Murray ran around for a bit and then threw a 40 yard TD pass to Tavarres King and Georgia would never look back.
After trailing 10-0, Georgia would score 37 unanswered points as the offense starting making plays. For Georgia, it was an all-around game. Aaron Murray threw for 384 with 4 TDs and zero INTs, Todd Gurley ran for over 100 yards, Zander Ogletree had a TD run and three Georgia receivers caught TD passes of 40 yards or more.
Georgia didn’t just do it with offense in this game, it was the defense that bowed up against Ole Miss. In their first four drives, the Rebels had 173 yards. On their final 12 drives, they put together just 74 yards of offense. The Georgia defense stopped the Rebels, caused turnovers and even got a safety as they continued the solid play from their victory over Florida.
Georgia played some of their best football of the season as they are just one game away from back-to-back trips to the SEC Championship Game and only Auburn (2-7) standing between them and the Georgia Dome.
