Gerald McCoy appeared on the NFL Network and boldly predicted a Bucs playoff appearance in 2011, as well as double digit sacks for the 2nd year pro. Check out the NFL.com video Here…. Or Bucstop.com presents it for you now….
My reaction to the video is simple..first of all, Trent Green, if it weren’t for you going down in the preseason of 1999, the man to your left wouldn’t even be sitting next to you, he would be bagging groceries watching this video on Bucstop.com! But other than in an alternate universe, they are both former QBs who are well known, and good at what they did.
They just don’t make a lot of sense right now, that all.
Trent Green says the Bucs wont make the playoffs because they have New Orleans and Atlanta in their division and they were 4-4 at home last year. True, but we were also 6-2 on the road. Home wins will come, most teams MUST improve on the road. The Bucs are already there. Besides, the Saints and Falcons are nothing for the Bucs to be scared at. We have beaten New Orleans in the SuperDome the last two seasons in a row, and both games against the Falcons went down to the wire and were EASILLY winnable by the Bucs. Those ATL/TB games could have gone either way with only one play. Add to the fact that both of the NO and ATL losses were at home, and now you see that the 4-4 record at home is very changeable. Why?
Because teams don’t stay the same. Yes Drew Brees insures the Saints will be an offensive power, but they were in 2007 and 2008 too, and that didn’t help the black and gold too much. The reason is their defense; it wasn’t the offense that improved in 2009 that got them a Super Bowl title, the D stepped up via free agency. And the Falcons have been proven as over rated by being knocked out of the playoffs first round despite a home game. More and more it looks as thought the Bucs are going to be the team to beat in the NFC South over the next few years.
