Get in the Tub!!!!!!

Get in the Tub!!!!!!

Hello Followers.  Hope your week is off to a good start.

Well, tonight, Mike Stoops became the first coach to become completely submerged in those bubbly waters.

Stoops leaves the Mildcats following a 41-50 record which includes bowl seasons in three consecutive years–a feat nearly unheard of in Mildcat land. Of course, that record took a major turn for the worse after a 7-1 start in 2010 abruptly turned into a 10 game losing streak to FBS opponents.

But, above and beyond Stoops’ record was his reputation for brashness.

And becaues of Stoops consistent, incessant, and indiscriminant rage (he went off on everybody, every game), we here at the WSU Football Blog began to refer to him as “Ole Yeller.”

Get in the Tub!!!!!!

And really, while I am sure some of you still like the idea of the Woody Hayes “eat the head off a frog” Old School Coach, the bottom line is that Stoops’ behavior and antics have NO PLACE in an institution of higher education/learning.  NO PLACE.

I mean, you throw that type of rage and hurtful antics into any other professional workplace and that person–even in an executive capacity–gets canned on the spot.  And to think that Mr. Pleather Jacket (Jim Livengood) tolerated that crap for years?!

But alas, it seems that there are still too few that recognize the deep ills associated with Stoops’ regular schtick.  For instance, tonight, Reece Davis of ESPN said the following on Twitter:

“Sorry to hear about Mke Stoops.  Good guy.  Good coach.  When it starts going the wrong way, very few can turn it around. Tough Biz.”

Yep, its a tough biz, Reece…Kind of like when Woody Hayes slugged a Clemson player in the face or when Bobby Knight tried to strangle his point guard–its a tough biz, alright.

Good grief.

And by the way Reece, when you treat kids and adults that way consistently and incessantly, YOU’RE NOT A GOOD GUY OR A GOOD COACH!  You’re a troubled individual with lots and lots of issues that need to be dealt with in a setting that’s FAR AWAY from impressionable and vulnerable young people…

So, good riddance to you, Ole Yeller.  Here’s to hoping that you take a good chunk of that 1.4 million dollar buy out (from a state that is cutting academic programs from their universities, for god’s sake) and invest HEAVILY into anger management counseling.

Cuz, you need it, boy.  You need it.

In the meantime, congratulations on your executive VIP (in season) plunge into the tub.  Very well done!

All for now.  Go Cougs.
