Get To Know Your TFC Players: Luis Silva

It has been nearly a month since the last instalment of “Get to know your TFC players.” So far Ryan Johnson, Ashtone Morgan, Milos Kocic and Matt Stinson have all been featured in this segment. Up next: Luis Silva.

Luis Silva

In light of the most recent TFC scandal (the Houston bar incident), I sat down with Luis Silva to get to know a bit more about him. Considering he was the team’s first round pick in 2012, we don’t want him to get a bad name before he gets a chance to prove himself to the TFC faithful.

The general impression I got from him is he is a very easy going guy who likes to joke around and have some fun. It’s also fairly clear from talking to him that he lives for the game of soccer.

Silva has appeared in ten league games for TFC this season, starting five of those. He is tied for fifth on the team with fifteen shots. He notched a goal in his TFC debut in the first leg of their CONCACAF quarter-final match with the Galaxy, although he has yet to score in MLS league play.

It is safe to say the youngster has a very bright future in front of him at both club and national levels. Here’s a glimpse at Luis off the pitch:

Alex Moretto (AM): What’s one thing you do better than anyone else?

Luis Silva (LS): I’m a movie guy, I like watching movies a lot.

AM: What would you pick for your final meal ever?

LS: Pasta. Pasta and some salad.

AM: What’s your favourite thing about your hometown?

LS: The City. The city is nice and the weather is amazing.

AM: Who would you pick to play you in a movie about your life?

LS: (laughs) I have no idea.

AM: What is your favourite word in the English language?

LS: It’s probably not a good word (laughs).

AM: So you and Milos share a similar answer?

LS: (laughs) Ya, it’s definitely not a nice word.

AM: If you could go back in time, where would you go and why?

LS: I’d go to my childhood. I think I could probably do a lot of things better.

AM: What’s the most star struck you’ve ever been?

LS: I couldn’t really remember.

AM: What movie have you seen more than any others?

LS: The Book of Eli, I’ve watched that one a lot.

AM: What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever said to you?

LS: A little boy just asked for my shoelace earlier (laughs).

AM: Do you have a nickname?

LS: Luigi. My uncle gave me that nickname after an Italian player back in the day and I guess he was really good (laughs).
