So last time around you got to know Toronto’s Jamaican born forward, Ryan Johnson. Stepping into the spotlight this week is goalkeeper Milos Kocic.
Kocic challenged for a starting job this offseason and began splitting time with fellow keeper Stefan Frei at the beginning of the season. Frei suffered an injury early in 2012 and Kocic has taken over the starting job since. Despite an 0-5 start to the season for TFC, Kocic has played great in net and has done his part for the team. It’s hard to blame him for the lack of goals.
“Kocic signed with Toronto FC on April 6, 2010 following one season with D.C. United. The Serbian goalkeeper was drafted in the 2nd round, 21st overall in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft by D.C. United. Following the 2009 season, Kocic was released and landed with Toronto FC on trial and eventually signed. Kocic was loaned to Serbian White Eagles of the Canadian Soccer League for the 2010 season” (courtesy of Toronto FC).
The 6’4, 200 pound keeper likes to joke around and as a result is one of the more outgoing players in the TFC locker room. He does not seem to have much of a filter on what comes out of his mouth, which is what made the following interview so enjoyable. Take a look at the following interview and get to know the man behind the bright yellow jersey.
Alex Moretto (AM): What’s one thing you do better than anyone else?
Milos Kocic (MK): In soccer or just in life? Oh f***, I don’t even know (laughs).
AM: What would you pick for your final meal ever?
MK: Gnocchi.
AM: What’s your favourite thing about your hometown (Leskovac, Serbia)?
MK: The hamburgers.
AM: Who would you pick to play you in a movie about your life?
MK: Hmm great question… Brad Pitt (laughs).
AM: What is your favourite word in the English language?
MK: F*** (laughs).
AM: If you could go back in time, where would you go and why?
MK: Medieval Times, I want to be a knight.
AM: What movie have you seen more than any others?
MK: I would say there are two movies that I’ve seen more than any others, Cinderella Man and Gladiator.
AM: What’s the most star struck you’ve ever been?
MK: The best celebrity, let me see, who is it? Oh fuck there’s so many I’ve met (laughs). The biggest impression a star has had on me is Novak Djokovic.
AM: What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever said to you?
MK: “Sign my boobs” (laughs).
With Frei still out for well over a month, Kocic will continue to run with the starting job and look to help get the Reds back on track in 2012.
