Todays game featuring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Atlanta Falcons may be the most worthless game the Bucs have played in decades. The worst case scenario, and there is a very good chance this can happen, is the Bucs get their Butts handed to them by Atlanta Falcons backups.
There is no doubt any longer that Raheem Morris will be fired for the Bucs. The team has quit on him, and thats evident from how things went down in 2009. The Bucs team believed in Raheem, he had his guys in his corner. Even at the beginning of this year, he had them behind him. But something happened when the team went to London. Perhaps they got their head full of all the Brits telling them how awesome they are. We all went overboard because of last year. I had writers when this season started, and I had to censor a couple articles because they were getting carried away. I had one guy call Josh Freeman the greatest QB of all time!!!! ALL TIME!! I had the guys do predictions, and only two of us had the Bucs at 10-6 or less. several put the Bucs down for 13-3; which would have been a better record than the Super Bowl team of 2002!
Now, players have tuned him out, and he admits this. Raheem Morris is not the only one at fault for this. The Glazers and Mark Dominik grossly over-estimated the talent level on the squad. Maybe not as much, maybe there is more talent there than is showing, but these players have not been coached well this year. They’ve been coached….but not well. Maybe only Defensive Line coach Keith Millard should be spared, but thats hard to call. There have been so many mistakes, its hard to count.
But its time now to clean house, and to admit our mistakes, and I’m talking to you GLAZERS! This was your idea…and it backfired. Time to make it right. Bring in the following….
Good energetic Head Coach, an experienced coordinator please. No retreads, no inexperienced Raheem II’s either. Enough with the “Buccaneer” way…that is dead. Tony Dungy is gone, so is Monte Kiffin. Its time for a new system of values, and this coach needs to hire HIS OWN staff, to teach these values to the young kids AND the veterans.
Veterans at the following positions: Linebacker, Wide Receiver, Corner Back, Running Back, Defensive Tackles, Offensive Linemen for depth, Backup veteran QB.
The Draft should address the above positions by selecting the best players available at the time.
The top pick in the draft should go to Corner Back or Running Back.
Most important…NO ONE SHOULD GO INTO 2012 WITH A STARTING JOB GUARANTEED. The only exceptions should be Josh Freeman, and some of the offensive linemen.
I personally take no good feeling in this whole mess. I was a Raheem Morris fan when I discovered what a great coach he was coming back to the Bucs to take over the defensive backs in 2007. In ’06 the Bucs DBs were a complete JOKE. Raheem had the DBs playing lights out, even with a rookie safety Tanard Jackson. Tampa Bay finished with the 2nd best pass defense that year, and Morris was a big reason why.
But Morris preaches to his players that everything WE are all saying is GREY MATTER. Perhaps it is, but thats Grey Matter that should have been a red flag. Maybe Raheem was right to ignore our opinions, but in the end, it was the Morris critics like BUCSFANLOSTINIOWA who was right after all.
So how will it happen? Only the Glazers know. Tony Dungy was fired the Monday following the Saturday playoff loss. The rumors Dungy would be fired were HOT on that Saturday morning, when Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times (Then ST. PETE) reported Dungy would be fired if the Bucs didnt go far into the Playoffs. Stroud was correct. No warning was given about Gruden, and no official warning has been given about Morris either.
Perhaps the Glazers already have his replacement ready. Jeff Fisher was seen at the Bucs hotel Saturday night, but Fisher’s son plays in the chick fila bowl. After the Glazers were embarrased by firing Tony Dungy with no coach lined up, they have had a new coach lined up each time.
When Jon Gruden was fired Raheem Morris was already lined up. Perhaps the Glazers need some more thinking to do. Word is they do like Raheem, everyone who knows him does. What happens if the Bucs beat Atlanta’s starters by 30? Would it change your mind?
Not mine, but I get the sick feeling the Bucs would go out and screw up a good draft pick, because there is nothing else to gain from a win this year.
